Giving boys the chance of broad experiences from an early age really matters.
At Bedford Prep, we’re proud of our extensive activity programme, which offers lots of potential to discover sporting and non-sporting pursuits the boys love.
Most happen in our long lunch breaks or after school, but for early risers our Ice Breakers swimming club means a fresh start on Wednesday mornings followed by breakfast and a hot chocolate.
Boys will discover a whole range of sports in PE lessons, and can follow up on any they enjoy in extra-curricular sessions, including our running club. But we don’t just cater for sports fans. They can hone their culinary skills in the Hungry Boys Club or make a racket in our Steel Band. They can learn the subtle art of chess, make mosaics or build canoes. We also offer a hugely popular Lego Club, and the UK’s only school observatory and a planetarium for budding stargazers.

House Activities
During the week, on two evenings, Eagle House (Bedford Prep School Boarding House) has sole use of the school swimming pool for an hour and the sports hall on two evenings. Indoor football is usually the most popular activity with dodge ball, basketball, cricket and badminton also being played. The boys have access to the Prep School’s all-weather area and will often be found there in the evenings or at weekends playing football, rugby, hockey, and so on, or flying around on bicycles, roller blades, skateboards or scooters.
