Bedford School is a selective school and as such all applicants are required to sit entrance assessments appropriate to their age. Our admissions process also requires a confidential reference from the Headteacher of the applicant’s current school and we may also wish to interview boys.
To start the admissions process, a registration must be submitted. Registrations should be received no later than 1 December in the year prior to intended entry. Early registration is however advisable, especially for families who also wish to apply for a Scholarship and/or Bursary, as additional forms need to be completed and returned by the same 1 December deadline.
Boys who register two or more years in advance for Year 9 (13+) entry are given the opportunity to sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test when they are either in Year 6 or 7 if they wish to, and may receive a conditional offer of a place at this stage. Candidates who receive a conditional offer are required to sit the 13+ entrance assessments in the spring term of Year 8 to ensure that they continue to meet the academic criteria for entry to the school. It is expected that an offer would become unconditional at this stage.
