Every cohort of Mobros impresses us with their fresh ideas that help make their Movember campaigns a big success. Whether to help raise funds or promote awareness of men’s mental health, it is always inspiring to see the boys’ creativity contribute to such a worthy cause.

So far this campaign, we have seen the boarding houses take part in ‘Ready Steady Bake’ in which the boys were able show off their culinary skills to full effect. Sanderson’s, Redburn, Talbot’s and Phillpotts created a plethora of tasty treats, so many that an extra table was needed to display them all! Sanderson’s legendary cookies were incredibly popular, and the Redburn Russian honey cake was back by popular demand thanks to Mark and Ivan. The boarding community should be justly proud of their efforts as they raised £270 from the sale of their cakes.

On Tuesday, we welcomed Polly Banks, Movember’s Community Fundraising Executive and Bobby Bansal, Bedford’s Mo ambassador. They were mightily impressed by the quality of teaching from the Upper boys, and the way the Remove and Fifth Form boys were engaging with the content of the sessions based around men’s mental and physical health. Both gave an incredible talk to the Upper Sixth, with Polly sharing news of the many projects that our money has gone on to support and Bobby sharing his story of his two fights with testicular cancer and the impact this had on him both mentally and physically.

Dodgeball offered an opportunity for all boys across the Upper School to participate in one of our ‘move’ events for Movember. We had over 20 teams participating in a variety of outfits, and the buzz in the sports hall was electric. ‘Balls of Fury’ were our 2022 champions, spurred on no doubt by their fabulous moustaches! This event not only provided an opportunity to highlight the benefits of physical movement on our mental health, but also raised £100 in the process.

On Thursday, the MoBros led an assembly for the Prep School boys talking about the campaign, reinforcing the message that showing your emotions and talking about your feelings is really important. They also shared their experiences of life in the Prep School and words of wisdom to their ‘younger selves’. The Prep School really enjoyed the opportunity to ask the MoBros questions. You can read more about the questions they asked, and the answers given in our story Movember Comes to the Prep School.

Friday saw our much-loved Movember House Tug of War take place, this year on the Inky Pitch. You can read more about which House took the trophy this year in our story here.

Finally (for now!), we are delighted to share with you the Movember Silent Auction, which has some fabulous items up for grabs. The auction is open to everyone, just place your bid here and we will notify you at the end of November if you are the highest bidder. ALL funds raised will go directly to Movember.

If you would like to show your appreciation for any of these events, you can donate directly to the school’s Movember page here or show your support and keep up to date by following this year’s MoBros on Instagram @bsmobros.
