Gift Aid is a scheme used by charities and donors to reclaim tax on charitable donations. Through the Gift Aid scheme, if you are a UK taxpayer, Bedford School Foundation Trust is able to claim an extra 25p per £1 donated – at no additional cost to you. Please make sure you make a Gift Aid Declaration when making your donation.
Use the calculator below to work out how much your donation will be worth to Bedford School Foundation Trust.
If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim further tax relief when making your tax assessment. You can reclaim the difference between the basic rate of 20% and the higher rate of either 40% or 45% (depending on whether you are a 40% or 45% higher rate taxpayer, respectively). The table below shows this.
You | Your gift | Cost to you | Foundation Trust receives |
---|---|---|---|
A UK basic rate taxpayer making a Gift Aid Declaration | £1,000 | £1,000 | £1,250 |
A UK 40% higher rate taxpayer making a Gift Aid Declaration | £1,000 | £750 | £1,250 |
A UK 45% higher rate taxpayer making a Gift Aid Declaration | £1,000 | £687.50 | £1,250 |

Outside the UK* | £1,000 | £1,000 | £1,000 |
