With internal exams over, our Y8 boys have been enjoying an exciting and enriching post-exam programme in their final weeks in the Prep School. Boys have enjoyed numerous activities, workshops and talks designed to ensure they are well-prepared for the Upper School and the next stage of their education.

PGL was the latest activity in their exciting programme (read more here), which has also included first aid training, with hands-on sessions covering unconscious casualties, the recovery position, EpiPens and CPR, numerous workshops and ‘Come Dine with Me’, to name just a few.

The always popular ‘Come Dine with Me’ evenings challenge the boys to organise an evening meal, complete with entertainment, for their classmates and teachers. The boys oversee every element, from the invitations to the menus to laying and decorating the tables to cooking and serving the food and providing the entertainment. As ever, they have proved a wonderful learning experience for the boys, who have picked up many new skills from our chefs and catering team, including napkin folding, and put their teamwork and communications skills to the test – a test they passed successfully.

New for this year has been the inclusion of an exciting entrepreneurial challenge, in which the boys have been tasked to come up with an idea for a possible business to add to Box End Park. After a brilliant introduction to Box End from its owners, Mr and Mrs Barbour (who many will also recognise as Oliver’s parents), the boys explored with them how to come up with ‘the next big idea’ and create business plans. The final of this exciting challenge takes place on Monday 3 July at Box End and will be followed by some wet and wild fun for the boys at the park.

Plus, there is more to come, including fascinating careers talks and life skills sessions next week.
