This week the Prep School has been oh so quiet, which can only mean one thing: trips week! And what a week it has been with trips and activities galore for every year group.

Y3 and Y4

Our intrepid Y3 and Y4 boys set off on Monday for a wonderfully wild bushcraft adventure. During their brilliant two-day residential trip in the great outdoors, they enjoyed various activities, including fire lighting, wilderness cooking, camouflage and concealment, den building and an epic first aid challenge to save their teachers (who are all fine!). The boys had a fantastic time, developed brilliant leadership skills and showed remarkable resilience, resourcefulness, decision-making and practical thinking. A slightly tired group of boys then enjoyed a fun but restful trip to the cinema as a final extra treat upon their return home.

“I really liked the activities and games we played and the survival skills we learnt; camouflage and stealth skills!”

Y5

Our Y5 boys also enjoyed a wonderful outdoor adventure: three days at our Ickwell Conservation Reserve, including one night camping out. During their stay, they enjoyed team-building activities, animal encounters, an informative and educational visit to Shuttleworth and some serious wet and wild fun at Box End.

“Ickwell was an amazing and enjoyable trip. I mostly enjoyed the inflatable park at Box End and archery tag. At Shuttleworth we saw a spitfire, hurricane and a tank. Best thing of all they worked and were tested more than once every year.”

Y6

The Silverstone Museum and the thrill of racing and high-level engineering and design awaited our Y6 boys on day one. They then faced some very different challenges back at school for days two and three as they faced a series of Taskmaster style challenges, including making the best sound, creating stories containing five objects that were exactly 200 words long, a movement challenge and finding 200 rubber ducks hidden across the estate – there are some still to be found!

Y7

Our Y7 boys started the week with a splash at Box End Park with knee boarding, paddle boarding, a ninja assault course and the inflatable aqua park. The boys then travelled to the Space Centre in Leicester on day two to further enhance their knowledge about the incredibly fascinating and mind-blowing topic of space.

Y8

Independence awaited our Y8 boys as they headed to PGL for three days. Their adrenaline-fuelled adventures included the dizzying trapeze, the giant swing, high ropes, archery, rock climbing, laser challenge and the ultimate challenge course. The camp was a superb experience for the boys, building resilience, enhancing friendships and adding to an already brilliant Y8 post-exam programme
