Our Y4 proudly presented the culmination of their term’s topic work on ‘Becoming Bedford’ to a very esteemed Dragons’ Den style panel, including the Mayor of Bedford, Dave Hodgson; Director at Michael Graham Estate Agents, Richard Banks; Headmaster, Mr Silk, and Deputy Head, Ms Heywood, on Wednesday.

In teams, the boys shared their chosen research learnings, in-depth explorations and their re-imagined Bedford to the panel through presentations, models and posters. The boys wowed the judges with their in-depth research, which saw them engaging in skills-based learning; the boys chose how they would like to further their knowledge and the areas of interest to research and develop – and they loved it!

Richard Banks was so impressed that he commented he would happily employ the boys based on their wonderful presentation skills, while the Mayor, who is a former university lecturer, told the boys that their presentation skills were better than many first-year university students’ – high praise indeed.

Special congratulations must go to James steel, Jasper Hinkins, Arka Athreya, Kian Fanning and Teddy Stewart-Jones, who were the chosen winners, but all the boys should be exceptionally proud of their achievements.

Headmaster Ian Silk commented, “It was wonderful to see boys, aged just eight and nine, speaking and presenting so engagingly, and with such bravery and confidence. They would not be out of place on the real Dragons’ Den! My congratulations go to them all.”
