OB Club Wellbeing Week – Yoga and Meditation (Free Event)

March 16 | 18:30 - 20:30

This year, we will be holding our first ever OB Club Wellbeing Week (for the BSA community) to help promote an overall awareness for the wide-ranging aspects of wellbeing from physical, to mental and social. To reflect this, we will be running a range of events throughout the week.

Join Nigel Wilson (64-74), founder of Tenterden Yoga, as he takes you through a gentle yoga class (1 hour), followed by a short meditation session.

Yoga has been proved to offer health benefits and improvements in a variety of areas, including:

  • flexibility
  • posture
  • breathing
  • muscle tone and strength
  • functions of internal organs
  • overall fitness level
  • relaxing the mind
  • mental focus

Nigel has now been running his studio for over five years, where he teaches people of all abilities and ages, from absolute beginners to experienced yogis.   His preferred style is Vinyasa Flow, where poses flow naturally with the breath. He also teach Ashtanga Vinyasa for students looking for a more dynamic practice. A key feature of his classes is that poses (asanas) are held for several breaths. This enables students to gradually move into the pose and get into the correct position -  essential to avoid injury, and get the maximum benefit from each posture.

Since March 2020, all Nigel’s classes have been held via Zoom and, he has kindly offered to host a gentle yoga and meditation class as part of the OB Wellbeing. During the session, he will share his expertise and will be happy to answer any questions at the end.

Points to note for the session:

Clothing: Please wear comfortable, loose clothing (t-shirt, shorts, leggings etc). A mat is desirable but not essential.

As Nigel will not be able to see those taking part, he will not be able to offer individual guidance. Therefore, it is important that participants come at their own risk, and, if they have any physical issues, they should be mindful of these when taking part.
