A Day’s racing at Ascot Racecourse

Old Bedfordian Will Aitkenhead (04-09) has kindly organised a special day at Ascot Racecourse, for their Sagaro Stakes Raceday.  This will take place on Wednesday 2nd May 2018,  features some top class Flat racing and promises to be a thrilling day. We appreciate that it is an expensive day out at £140 per head (plus online booking fee), but for this you will enjoy the following in Ascot's Number One box, normally reserved for royalty and directly overlooking the finish line;

• A car parking place close to the entrance (one per couple)
• Access to a private box with fellow OBs, their partners, and friends of the School
• Access to a private outside seating area next to the box to view the races
• Admission to the King Edward VII Enclosure
• Tea and coffee on arrival
• 2 course buffet lunch (drinks can be ordered from a cash bar)
• A race card and racing paper

In addition to this Will has kindly offered to organise a tour of the grandstand before it fills up later in the day. Between 2004 and 2006 the racecourse embarked on a huge project to upgrade its facilities. This was led by Rod Steward from HOK Sport Architects, cost £200 million, with the main focus being the new grandstand and the racecourse which is now a stunning venue that attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every year.

The dress for gentlemen will be suits or jacket and tie and for ladies the equivalent. More guidance is available on the Ascot website.

For those who would like to join the tour we will aim to meet as the gates open and then head up to the box for lunch ahead of the first race. We will send out more detailed plans, along with passes and confirmation of timings nearer the date.

Transport from Bedford: We are looking at the possibility of booking a bus if there is enough demand. Please indicate on the booking form if you would be interested in this by selecting either 'yes' or 'no' in the 'transport' option. There would, of course, be an additional charge for this.
