An evening filled with music performed by our best musicians was held on the evening of Saturday 22 April at St Andrew’s Church in Bedford, all in a bid to name the Bedford School Musician of the Year 2023.

In the hotly contested annual event, boys, who earned their places at the event by winning the House Music Prize Competition in their respective sections, treated the audience to solo performances from both the Junior and Senior Prize Competitions in strings, woodwind, brass, piano, organ and voice.

Director of Music Mr Jonathan Sanders commented, “It was wonderful to be back in St Andrew’s Church to celebrate all of the outstanding individual performers from Bedford School. All of the instrumental and singing prize winners performed a piece – we had a wonderful variety of repertoire from classical to contemporary (both art and pop music). We were also very grateful to Mr Malcolm Green (former Head of Woodwind & Brass at Bedford School) who came to award the overall Young Musician of the Year awards, which and, deservedly went to Ryan So (cello) and Aaron Lim (piano).”

Congratulations to Ryan and Aaron, and to all the talented musicians who put on a splendid concert.

You can watch the winning performances here:

Junior Musician of the Year 2023 – Ryan So (Remove Form). Ryan’s performance is at 40.20.

Senior Musician of the Year 2023 – Aaron Lim (Lower Sixth Form). Aaron’s performance is at 1.05.50.
