It was curtains up for our brilliant Prep School cast on Thursday 22 June, as they took to the stage to perform Yanomamo: the world’s first ecological musical.

With catchy songs, sloths, ants, forest people and more, the boys transported their audience to the Amazon Rainforest and the oldest Indian tribe living there, the Yanomamo. The musical, based on the struggles of the real-life Yanomami, explored how the arrival of outsiders and their plans to clear the trees affects the delicate balance of nature and – if no action is taken – what will happen to the rainforests, which are crucial to the world’s eco-system. Is there the time or the will to save them?

After their first performance, Mrs Turton and Mrs Gedye told us, “The boys have been just brilliant; their performance of this important story was truly magical. A big thank-you to the cast and the band, and everyone who helped with Yanomamo behind the scenes with set design, tech support, props, costumes and more, as well as all the teachers and parents for their unwavering support – we could not have put on the show without you all.”
