The sun was shining on our Y8 boys as they enjoyed a fun day of team building with Bedford Girls’ School Y8 pupils on Friday 26 April.

In an action-packed day, filled with ingenious and challenging team-building and problem-solving activities, pupils worked in teams to compete in the fast-paced race-style events out on the playing field.

The pupil-led activities included:

  • Ski Patrol – a feat of coordination and combined effort.
  • Stack It – a tricky challenge as the building blocks can only be picked up with a hook attached and controlled by a web of ropes.
  • Ladder Golf – a competitive game requiring precision throwing and strategy.
  • Wobble Board – using ropes attached to a board to drop the ball through the correct hole – a real challenge of communication and coordination.
  • The Floor is Lava – a game of balance and teamwork in which the teams used blocks and planks to get all team members safely across the lava and get all the blocks to the other side, too.

While brilliantly simple on the surface, the games proved fiendishly challenging, requiring pupils to plan, communicate and work together to succeed. Resilience, perseverance and kindness were also crucial.

It proved a fantastic, fun and inclusive competition, teaching pupils many valuable skills for effective collaboration. We are proud to say that everyone participated enthusiastically, with great team spirit and a can-do attitude.

We also thank Wise Up Team Building and all their staff for organising and running such a brilliant day.
