In a genuinely inspirational morning, our Y8 boys took time out to share their Independent Research Projects with their peers and teachers.

The projects, which are a real test of the boys’ independent learning and ability to communicate on a topic of their choosing, once again proved highly impressive. The project topics were also as diverse and fascinating as ever, covering everything from ‘Conspiracy theories – what causes people to believe in them?’ to ‘What would the world be like without laws?’ to ‘Can art help your emotions?’ to ‘What is quantum immortality?’ and everything in between—and beyond!

During the project marketplace finale, during which the boys presented their projects, Andrew Wright’s satirical project entitled ‘How to stage a coup’ was voted the most interesting, engaging and well-researched. His project will proudly feature in the next issue of the Whinchat magazine and he received an Amazon voucher as the winner.

Following the marketplace finale, Head of Y8 Mrs Loader commented, “I am so very proud of what the boys have achieved over the last month. They have worked incredibly hard on their projects, and it was lovely to see them talk enthusiastically about something that interests them. Special congratulations must go to boys who also undertook the extension element and created something physical or creative to do with their project, even organising private interviews with professionals in their field of study.”
