We always love it when boys take their imagination, creativity and design skills (which are vast!) and realise them in our DT workshops.

This term, our Y4 boys have not only been busy creating Future Skills shields and swords (complete with each hero’s logo) using a wide range of tools, machines and materials, but they have also been learning about the vacuum forming process. The boys got to operate the vacuum former for themselves, placing a pre-prepared mould on the bed of the machine, then inserting an acrylic sheet into the frame and locking it in place before heating the acrylic to the correct temperature. Then all that was required was a pull of the lever, the press of the suction button followed by a blast of cool air and, hey presto, they had created cars!
