Our U18 Indoor Hockey team has had a marvellous run this season. Shortly before Christmas, they were thrilled to be one of two teams from England East Region, to qualify for the Indoor National Finals –  the last time Bedford qualified was in 2003.

The finals, which comprised of 10 teams, took place on the weekend of 13 and 14 January.  The Bedford team went into the competition with great confidence, earned by their successful track record during the season. They had an exhilarating first day, winning both their games (Millfield 4-2, Altrincham Grammar 7-4). However, despite them giving it their all, day two was tough, and the boys conceded two agonising losses to Oakham and St Lawrence – both teams which then went on to play in the final.

Bedford came in sixth place overall, which considering this is sixth in the whole country, is quite a triumph.

These boys have played together since their Prep School days, and so to take their game to this level is not only an incredible achievement but also a treasured moment in life. Well done boys.
