Our Y7 boys enjoyed a fascinating trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester on Monday 25 April, as part of their ‘Earth and Space’ studies in science this term.

The boys visited the Space Centre’s impressive 42-metre-high rocket tower to see the Blue Streak and Thor Able rockets, take in the Gagarin Experience and see the Apollo Lunar Lander and some real Moon Rock.

The boys came face to face with astronauts and spacesuits and learned all about the moon landings and the satellites orbiting the planet.

They also took in an immersive full-dome show in the UK’s largest Planetarium: The Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium, where they discovered what it takes to become an astronaut. During the show, the boys experienced a rocket launch from inside an astronaut’s body. They explored the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, from floating around the International Space Station to manoeuvring through microscopic regions of the human body.

It truly was an inspiring, educational, fun-filled, action-packed day that brought their ‘Earth and Space’ studies to life.
