At Bedford Prep, we aim to inspire a lifelong interest in sport – promoting enjoyment, teamwork, well-being and fitness. So, this week we are delighted to share the successes of three boys taking their chosen sports to top levels.

Over the Easter break, Nathan Nolan (Y6) competed in the Woodhall Spa Junior Trophy. The three-day, 18-hole season opener at the home of England Golf was a fantastic test for the young golfer. Despite 150 bunkers on the course (some big enough to fit a car), Nathan achieved a brilliant third place in the net category with scores of 62, 67, and 64. Nathan was back in action on the 6 May with a tour competition at Cambridge, where he achieved a best gross score of 82 over 18 holes to take sixth place.

Rafael Spajic (Y6) stepped up to compete in the English Open Championship in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in London last weekend. The English Open is the highest-ranking tournament in the UKBJJA calendar, so Rafael was delighted to win silver. It proved an extraordinary experience for Rafael, who is now keen to go one better, telling us, “I know I’m good enough; I will be back”.

Edward Page’s (Y7) passion for football recently took him to The Netherlands for an exciting international tournament. Edward, who plays for Luton Town’s pre-academy football team, proudly lifted the tournament winner’s trophy after seeing off competitors from across the world, including a Danish team in the final.

Headmaster Ian Silk commented, “My congratulations go to all three boys. Competing at a high level takes real dedication and hard work, so it is wonderful to see all three enjoying and achieving so highly in their sports and so proud to share their successes with us.”
