The Adrian Boult Society met for a talk by Archie Young-Lee on 10th November.

Archie developed further the ideas he had touched on the previous week, starting with the earliest symphonies and the growth in popularity of the form in the eighteenth century.  He looked at some of the monumental works of the nineteenth century and the variety of pathways the symphony has taken in the twentieth century.

It was an interesting presentation and was enhanced by lots of audio examples.
