Before the Battle of Hastings came the Battle of Stamford Bridge. An epic victory that at any other time would have been remembered as one of the greatest in English history were it not for the battle of Hastings just three weeks later.
In keeping with history, half of the boys in each Y5 class, representing the elite troops of King Harrold II, marched upon Stamford Bridge, aka the Prep Astro, to catch the soldiers of Harald Hardrada, the other half of the class, off guard. With their colourful shields, made by the boys, they were a sight to see, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Next week, the battlefield moves to Hastings as boys re-enact part two of this incredible piece of English history.
