It has been an exciting week for many sport teams across the school this week, and especially so for our 1st XI who, after beating stiff competition, won an inter-school T10 competition by just one run.

Kitted out in their striking royal blue colours, the boys played three games against Norwich School, The Perse School and Oakham School.

The Bedford team, along with Oakham, both won their first two matches and had each other to play in the last game of the round robin.

The Bedford boys batted first and scored 101 off their ten overs, which was a challenging score. However, Oakham (reigning champions) batted well and had one hand on the trophy as they needed seven off the penultimate over. However, Dilan Sheemar’s superb bowling not only keep the runs down, but to get a run out and take a wicket too. On the last over of the game, Oakham needed three to win and two to tie, but again, Dilan met the challenge with great skill by keeping Oakham to just one, giving the victory to Bedford by one single run!

Director of Cricket, Mr Gary Steer, said, “This was a perfect competition for the boys to play in at the end of the season. There was some super cricket played by all teams and it was pleasing to see our 1st XI play good cricket all the way through the tournament. Every boy played their part at some stage and winning the tournament was a nice way to finish what has been a very successful season for the 1st XI.”
