Sirens and flashing lights signalled the arrival of two Magpas Rapid Response Vehicles (RRVs) to the Prep School on Thursday. Although, we are pleased to say that Steve, Sarah and Emma from Magpas were here to meet the boys – not for an emergency!

Magpas (the Mid Anglia General Practitioner Accident Service) is our chosen charity in the Prep School this year. During the lunchtime visit from the charity, the boys were able to find out more about Magpas, the types of accidents and emergencies they attend, the lifesaving technology they carry, the critical care they provide and, a highlight for all, the chance to sit behind the wheel and sound the sirens.

Throughout the year, the boys will carry out fundraising activities for this truly lifesaving charity, which treats around 900 patients from Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and the East of England in life-threatening emergencies yearly. Indeed, two Prep boys, Isaac Dailey and Henry Hillier (Y7), are already gearing up for a marathon fundraising challenge, a sponsored 26-mile bike ride starting and finishing from the school gates, which they hope will raise £500 for Magpas.  If you would like to support them and the charity, please visit their fundraising page here

Magpas is also set to return to school later in the year to run a CPR training session with the boys, with their special CPR dummies that light up when the correct depth of compression and rhythm is achieved.
