Our Y3 boys headed to Bedford Girls’ School on Monday to join them for an exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) workshop.

During the afternoon, the pupils’ engineering skills were put to the test, firstly, by building aqueducts to transport water (substituted for marbles) from one side to the other without dropping any. Working together, the boys and girls dived into the challenge using straws, tape and lolly sticks.

The pupils were also challenged to make boats that could float and hold as many pennies as possible using only tin foil and two straws and to build the tallest freestanding tower, complete with a viewing platform, from just newspaper and tape.

It proved a brilliant afternoon full of excellent collaboration, kindness, resilience and reflection, with boys identifying these future skills in action.
