GCSEs are well underway across all subjects in the curriculum. This also includes drama and this week it was our Remove Form boys who were quite literally in the spotlight when they performed their GCSE devised pieces to a live audience before completing their performance exam.

Boys started preparing for their devised piece back in the autumn term, kicking off with a workshop delivered by theatre company Paperbirds, the UK’s leading practitioners of verbatim theatre. This component of the GCSE is notoriously challenging for the boys, but they all agree that although difficult, it is also thoroughly enjoyable.

Mrs Antoinette Keylock, Head of Academic Drama said, “I have been delighted with the students’ commitment and creativity this year. The boys really performed well. I know how challenging devised theatre can be, even for professional theatre companies, so this was a great way to end the half term.”
