This weekend saw the celebrations for the 125th Anniversary of the Old Bedfordians Club take place at the school and we were delighted to showcase some very special wines which had been specially selected for the Anniversary Dinner.

The evening kicked off on a real high with a wonderful drinks reception where OBs, partners and guests gathered and shared stories over a superb Langham Classic Cuvée 2013, a fine English sparkling wine from the Langham Wine Estate in Dorset. Justin Langham, son of John Langham (37-42), has toured many of the world’s most venerable wine regions and studied viticulture at Plumpton College, experiences which gave him the foundations for establishing the world-class wine estate.

Christopher Burr MW (58-69) founder of wotwine?, the app and online wine guide for supermarket wines, and Master of Wine since 1995, sourced the two wines which accompanied the dinner. These were a red and a white; Macon Igé, Chateau London, Domaine Fichet, 2014 and Grignan Les Adhémar, Rhone, Domaine de Montine, 2014. Both of these featured a limited edition, Old Bedfordians 125th Anniversary label, specially commissioned for the dinner.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to both Justin and Christoper for selecting these exquisite wines and helping to make the evening such a wonderful success.

For those planning their Christmas Festivities, please be aware that we have some white wine, red wine and English sparkling wine left over from the Dinner. As mentioned above, the red and white have the specially commissioned 125th Anniversary label. If you are interested in buying some to enjoy with family and friends over the Festive Season please do not hesitate to contact Richard Garrett on rgarrett@bedfordschool.org.uk. Preferably we would ask you to pick it up from the school, but there are other options. Richard would be happy to give a discount for larger orders. He looks forward to hearing from you.
