The Costa Brava beckoned for our Y8 boys this Easter. Their four-day adventure saw them take in the charms and history of Barcelona and the golden beaches of Platja d’Aro, develop their language skills and gain a brilliant insight into Spanish culture.

After their flight the day before, all enjoyed a day of activity and relaxation in equal measure as the boys kayaked in the sea, chilled on the beach, and played in the hotel pool. After a refuel of paella, the boys were raring to go for their first cultural encounter, a football match against local Spanish club CF Base Llagostera. Two tough matches followed; however, on a positive note, they offered the boys some Spanish number practice, counting the opposition’s goals!

On day three, the boys headed to Sant Feliu School to test their language skills. They practised questions in Spanish and then helped their newfound friends with their English.

The afternoon was a whirlwind of cultural experiences for the boys. They explored central Barcelona, strolling down Las Ramblas, picking up souvenirs, and indulging in the must-have churros. The stunning Sagrada Familia was a highlight, impressing everyone with its beauty. The day ended with a fun and competitive game of bowling.

Day four was a dream come true for our football-loving boys. A trip to the interactive museum at Camp Nou allowed them to immerse themselves in the history and culture of FC Barcelona. Most boys couldn’t resist picking up some souvenirs to remember their visit.

All too soon, their Spanish adventure drew to a close. As they bid “Adiós” to the Costa Brava, they did so with a wealth of wonderful experiences, cultural insights, lessons learned and happy memories of a fun-filled trip.
