Lower Sixth Form boys studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) worked together this week to produce and present topics of broad scientific interest to an audience of boys in the year below.

The Group 4 Project is both an exciting and inspiring part of the IB Diploma, which encourages boys to work collaboratively and appreciate the environmental, social and ethical implications of science.

The Lower Sixth Form boys were required to work in groups to research, produce and present their chosen topic and there was an excellent selection, including ‘The Science of Medieval Weapons’, which came complete with a demonstration of cake-cutting using a ceremonial sword!

Also featured was ‘How to start a global pandemic’, which looked at the factors affecting virus transmission and ‘The Science of Formula 1’, which investigated the ever-popular subject of racing cars.

The quality of presentation was very high and voting for the best one was extremely close. The winner will be presented with a trophy in an upcoming assembly.
