Eighty-five aspiring young performers took part in the annual Prep House Drama event on Friday 9 November in the Quarry Theatre. Each house performed a twenty-minute piece of original theatre based on the theme: Tales of the Unexpected. The diverse range of performances and pieces perfectly showcased the talent across all year groups in the school, from Year 3 to Year 8, and it was particularly pleasing to note how many boys rose to the challenge of performing in front of a full house. For many, it was their first time on stage.

The judge was Dame Alice School (now Bedford Girls’ School) alumni, Alice Warner. Alice works in television production and had a tough job picking a winner. She chose Ben Roberts (Y6, Whitbread) as the winner of the Best Actor award for his committed and lively performance in The Clearing, and Howard as the overall winners for their atmospheric ensemble piece, The Phantom School.

Well done to all the boys who took part, both onstage and behind the scenes; we look forward to seeing you on stage again in the future.
