The Prep School’s U13 Sevens were crowned winners of the Plate Trophy in the recent Elite Insurance Premiership Sevens competition held at the home of Northampton Saints, Franklin’s Gardens.

The boys earned their place in the finals thanks to some great performances in the qualifying round, where they competed with teams across Northamptonshire (as they had been unable to attend the Bedfordshire qualifying tournament).  Only a loss, in a close fought match, against Northampton School for Boys prevented them from topping the tournament.  However, their position as regional runners up secured their place in the finals.

On finals day, the team faced the top two sides from the seven East Midlands and Eastern Counties, with sides from as far away as Cheltenham, playing against each other.  A close loss to eventual Cup winners, The Perse, placed the team into the Plate competition.  However, big wins against previous conquerors, Northampton School for Boys and Felsted, resulted in a run out on the Saints’ first team pitch for the Plate Final.  In a superb match the boys defeated Felsted once again to deservedly lift the Plate trophy.

Well done boys!
