We are delighted to announce that Tom Gray and Gabriel Borelli were both prize winners in this year’s Ovid Latin competition, organised by the Cambridge School Classics Project.

Each year, this national competition challenges Y7 pupils to develop creative responses to myths with either performance, an artefact, a piece of creative writing or animation. The stimulus for entries this year was Ovid’s metamorphoses tales, which explore many aspects of human nature: greed, curiosity, vanity, generosity, arrogance and creativity – a very powerful springboard for discussion and creative work.

Tom’s outstanding entry on Kronos earned him first place in the artefact category, while Gabriel’s excellent animation about Theseus and the Minotaur won him third place. Both boys were delighted to join with fellow finalists from schools across the country at the online awards ceremony this week and even more thrilled to hear their names announced as prize winners.
