Our Y3 and Y4 boys put their books away, tucked their chairs under their desks and stepped outside for a day of learning in the great outdoors on Wednesday 14 June.

The boys’ day of outdoor adventures started with a fun production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the Quarry Theatre Gardens. With teachers from Splats Entertainment, the boys participated in the Midsummer Night’s madness of Oberon, Titania, Puck and the fairies who cause chaos with their magical mischief.

In the afternoon, the boys enjoyed a carousel of activities that encouraged them to connect with nature and the environment and allowed them to explore their creativity. From bug sketching to a bug hunt that included handling stick insects to painting kindness stones and shadow sketching under the trees, the boys made the most of the brilliant sunshine and enjoyed working collaboratively. The boys were also joined and supported for the afternoon by a group of students who were visiting from Denmark this week. You can read more about their visit here.

Head of Y3, Mrs Carrington, commented, “It is wonderful to give boys the opportunity to experience learning both inside and outside the classroom and, importantly, appreciate that learning occurs everywhere, at all times.”
