The Bedford School golf scholarship programme was started in 2008, and for each of the last six years we have had at least one boy receive a golf scholarship to a US university.

Previous donations to the Bedford School Foundation Trust have benefited the golf programme, including the fantastic golf simulator facility, and we were delighted to welcome some of our donors to try out the simulator and meet some of the beneficiaries of their generosity.

Hosted at the school’s Golf Performance Centre, teams from across the school community gathered earlier this month; OBs Anthony Ormerod (47-57), Tim Henderson (64-71), Will Notley (92-03), Julian Ormerod (75-85), staff members, boys, parents, and past parents met for some gentle competition…and a lesson in how it’s done from a visiting upcoming OB Golf Pro.

Ably guided by resident golf pro, Sam Smith, four teams battled it out on the school’s golf simulator.

Adding a touch of professionalism to the evening was OB Rob Holden (13-18), who joins the Alps Tour this year after graduating from university in Ohio.  He was able to give some pointers to two of the current golf scholars who will head off to the US in September.

With some impressive golf prowess on display, and a few drinks and a bite to eat, a great night was had by all.  Congratulations to Past Parent, James Stewart who emerged as the victor in the ‘nearest the pin’ competition!
