Many thanks to all those who joined us at our OB London Networking and Social event on Thursday 22nd June.  The event was kindly hosted by Joe Sylvester (87-98) at his offices at LGT.  Forty-five OBs from many different industrial sectors including insurance, banking, technology, and accounting enjoyed catching up in a vibrant environment, making new connections and reacquainting old friendships.

Joe welcomed everyone to LGT and spoke about the opportunity, not only to meet up with friends, but also to make new acquaintances and perhaps give the younger OBs some help and advice in much the same way that he had been helped by older OBs when he was first starting out in his career. He was delighted to meet up with Nick Skipp (85-94) again, last seen when Nick was a boarder in Farrar’s under Joe’s father, house master John Sylvester, and Joe was just a toddler!

These events were originally set up to give OBs of all ages the opportunity to connect and extend their network in a friendly, informal environment. This was well reflected at our gathering, with attendees ranging across all ages – from 20 to 60 plus.  It was particularly good to see a strong representation from our 1990 leavers.

We are always on the lookout for venues with OB connections, so, if you have any ideas, or can offer a space, please get in touch with the OB office (OBClub@bedfordschool.org.uk).
