A group of eighteen Old Bedfordians, all of whom are current undergraduates at Durham University, gathered for a reunion in Durham City Centre on Thursday 24th February. The group, which was comprised of first, second, and third-year students, began proceedings at a local restaurant – La Spaghettata.

Given the restaurant’s popularity, particularly among the student community, the group was extremely excited to reunite for a hearty meal. Fortunately, the restaurant lived up to its reputation, providing the group with a variety of delicious Italian dishes. Following the meal, the group headed to another popular haunt – ‘The Swan’ is famous for being a cash-only and tech-free pub (the latter rule makes the place a wonderful facilitator of conversation).

When not eating or drinking, the group enjoyed reminiscing, updating one another about what they were up to, and generally having a good laugh. Rahul Sheemar (12-19), who kindly organised the reunion, said:

“It was truly wonderful to get the ‘OBs of Durham’ together for a meal and a drink! The evening provided a great opportunity to see many familiar faces, and to chat with boys who I had previously not had the chance to interact with (as a result of being a couple of year groups apart). Most notably, the evening reminded me just how close-knit and supportive the OB community is, and that you’re never truly far away from a fellow OB!”

Once summative assignments and exams have been completed, the group hopes to meet again in the summer – hopefully, they’ll be greeted by some celebratory sunshine!

We’d like to thank Rahul for organising such a wonderful reunion. If you are an Old Bedfordian at university who would like help with organising a similar get-together, please get in touch with the OB Club obclub@bedfordschool.org.uk.
