As our Eagle House boarders returned from their Christmas break, they were welcomed back by their new Housemaster, Mr Loader and his family: Mrs Loader and their daughter Lottie. However, Mr and Mrs Loader are far from new faces to the boys or strangers to Eagle House.

Mr Loader was, in fact, a boarder at Eagle House and the eagle-eyed will find his name (he was Head of his House) on the boards in the house. Mr Loader has lived at Eagle House more than anywhere else, as he was also Assistant Housemaster for several years.

This term, as Mr and Mrs Loader take over the reins from Mr and Mrs Lincoln, our brilliant Houseparents for the last 11 years, they are keen to build on their legacy by continuing to provide a warm and secure environment where all boys feel comfortable in their care – whether as full, weekly, flexi or occasional boarders or joining them for before or after school care.

While they may have only just moved in, the Loaders, supported by their friendly matrons, live-in staff: Mr Lee, Assistant Housemaster and Mr Roger, Live-In Tutor, and the team of cleaners and house handyman, are already building strong relationships with the boys and sharing their family values with them.

They are also busy organising a whole raft of activities for the boys to enjoy, including fun evenings each week, one of which is without technology, when boys simply enjoy being children; spending time together and playing classic games – wink murder and the vegetable game are already firm favourites with the boys. And at the weekends, with organised group trips into town, Saturday night movies and excursions to Laser World, the Orbital trampoline park, the go-karting track, the ‘Locked In’ escape room and the zoo to look forward to, the term and, indeed, the year ahead is sure to be fun.

As part of their vision for Eagle House, Mr and Mrs Loader welcome the opportunity for Eagle House to become more closely involved in everyday life in the Prep School and are keen to ‘show and tell’ everyone about the fun, supportive environment in the house by opening their doors. This term they are already looking forward to welcoming more teachers to the house in the evenings to help the boys and enjoy spending time with them outside the usual school day, as well as welcoming friends of the boarders over. In fact, all boys are welcome – for our Y8 boys, who are currently competing in a reading competition, the top prize is pizza and a film at Eagle House.
