We are pleased to welcome Richard Stout (88-95) to our team of global District Vice Presidents (DVPs). Based in Johannesburg Richard will be joining Alex Gitlin (90-96) and John Wall (51-57) who are both in Cape Town.

Richard Stout 88-95

Richard enjoyed seven years at Bedford between 1988 and 1995, before heading to Durham University, where he gained a 2:1 in Modern European Languages (French, German and Italian). Following university, Richard spent 10 years in the City with Citigroup in their Equity Capital Markets team covering Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2010, Richard relocated with his wife to Johannesburg to start up Barclays’ African Equity Capital Markets business. Whilst he has subsequently moved to Standard Bank, Africa’s largest bank by assets, he remains based in Johannesburg and continues to be a one-trick career pony, leading their Equity Capital Markets team on the continent.

In his spare time, and whenever he is not watching his two daughters playing tennis and hockey, Richard enjoys running and padel tennis whilst the sun is up and is currently spending his evenings studying for a master’s degree in International Relations through Harvard University.
