Many thanks to members of the Bedford School community for making our BSA (Bedford School Association) Business Networking event a resounding success. The sun shone as OBs, parents and past parents enjoyed drinks and canapés with stunning views of the river on the Bedford Rowing Club terrace.

Hugh Maltby, BSA Director, welcomed guests before giving a brief history of Bedford Rowing Club and its strong links to Bedford School Boat Club which is one of the oldest school rowing clubs in the country, having been formed in 1861. Upon leaving Bedford, many OBs, who had enjoyed rowing whilst at school, wanted to continue taking part in the sport and, to that end, helped form Bedford Rowing Club, which was established in 1886, the same year as the Rugby Club. Throughout the years, many members of the OB community have both rowed for the club and formed part of its administration as well as being heavily involved in the Bedford Regatta

This was our third Bedford-based networking forum, following on from the success of our inaugural BSA event, at Brewpoint, last year and, at 3 St Peter’s, where Poonam and Bali Chand (parents to OBs Arran (03-14) and Taran (07-18)), were our hosts, earlier this year. These events developed organically, following the popularity of our OB London Networking Forums, which were set up to give OBs of all ages the opportunity to connect and extend their network in a friendly, informal environment.

“After seeing how successful our London OB Networking events had been in helping Old Bedfordians increase their network and meet like-minded people, we thought, “Why not give ALL members of our community, including parents and past parents, this same fantastic opportunity?”. The BSA Networking Forums seemed like a natural progression. So far, we have received extremely positive feedback, with many attendees telling us they have made valuable long-term connections.”
