Long summer evenings are here with us at last, and as we reach summer term mid-point and breathe a sigh of relief as boys sit the last of their exams, a much-enjoyed tradition begins – National Boarding Week!

The initiative was created by the Boarding Schools Association to help raise awareness of the many benefits of boarding and celebrate the important part that the boarding community plays in the wider ethos of the school.

For our boarders at Bedford School, this means a week filled with a range of different activities, each one chosen to help them simply unwind, have fun and create fond memories of their time at school.

Monday 19 June saw the first activity of the week – Laser Tag! The game was chosen by the boys themselves (can you tell?!) and involved infrared light guns and giant inflatables for cover.

Boys competed in their houses and, as you can see from the photos, had a great time. While there was no clear winner at the end of the two-hour battle, it was clear that all boys, from our youngest Prep boarders right through to Sixth Formers, bonded over the parapets as they talked tactics and fired lasers.

Look out for our next National Boarding Week activity; ‘Taste the World’, which will take place during boarders’ tea on Tuesday 20 June.
