Young athletes from across North Bedfordshire came together on 15 June to represent their districts in the 2022 County Athletics Championships held at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium.

Ten of those athletes were Bedford School boys from across the Upper School, who represented the North Beds District team. All boys were highly competitive, with every single one pushing for top placings. The event always attracts tough competition, as participating athletes aim to achieve national qualifying standards and gain selection to the county team to go on to compete at the England Schools Championships.

Unfortunately, our boys did not quite make the qualifier. However, several did secure places on the podium, including Remove Former Ayo Odumuyiwa, who won gold in the 400m hurdles, and Jack Guest, who was called up at the last minute, who won silver.

Surprise of the day must go to Fourth Former Ferdi Barnett-Vincent, who came along to support the boys but ended up competing in the shot, where he finished in bronze medal position!

Congratulations to all boys (below) who were a credit to themselves and the school.
