Chortles, giggles and guffaws could all be heard coming from the Erskine May Hall last week when we welcomed the brilliantly funny author, illustrator and comedian Olaf Falafel to the school.

Olaf took boys from Y3 to Y6 on an out-of-this-world journey to the moon when he shared his latest story, It’s One Giant Leek for Mankind, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the historic moon landing of 1969. Full of historical details, the highly entertaining talk contained some things that happened – as well as a lot that did not! We have no doubt based on the boys’ rapt attention and non-stop laughter that they went home that day full of great tales about adventurous astronauts, giant vegetables and moon baboons who made strange music on their bottom bassoons!

Olaf also gave the boys lots of great ideas and advice on writing, poetry and illustration, as well as worksheets full of games, puzzles and drawing challenges to try in class.
