Over forty OBs and guests joined DVP for Bedfordshire, Dr Jason Reddy (79-84), for a delicious Christmas lunch at The Snooty Tavern on Sunday 1st December. Situated on the Bedfordshire / Cambridgeshire border, this fantastic gastropub has recently been taken over by Michelin star-trained head chef, Nick Jones (Marriott) (92-02), who hosted our very successful DVP lunch last year at his other pub, the Mermaid at Ellington. To add some additional ‘OB icing’ on the cake, beer for the day was provided by The Black Pit Brewery, set up by three entrepreneurial OBs; Ben Williams (91-02), Duncan Wheeler (95-02) and Oliver Whiteley (92-02).
Upon arrival, OBs of all ages enjoyed catching up over a pre-lunch champagne reception in the bar. As guests were seated, Jason thanked everyone for their presence and support and shared a poignant message:
“We are reminded at this time of year not only to give thanks but also to remember those less fortunate than ourselves.”
The Head Master then said grace, in Latin, before guests tucked in an absolutely superb festive meal. It was wonderful to see the room filled with lively conversation and laughter. With great company and food, a fantastic time was had by all – thank you to all those who came and helped make it such a wonderful occasion.
