An afternoon of science discovery was enjoyed earlier this week when Lower Sixth Form boys studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) came together to present topics of broad scientific interest to an audience of excited Fourth Formers and more experienced IB2 boys in the Mem Hall.

The presentations were part of the Collaborative Science Project, which is an important part of the IB diploma, requiring IB1 boys to work collaboratively and in an interdisciplinary way across all three sciences to produce a presentation. This year’s students researched an excellent selection of topics to entertain their audience. Topics investigated were: The Science of the Perfect Spatula, The Hydrogen Bomb: Why it Should be Feared, The Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster and The Science of Snakes (which came complete with a real snake!).

The quality of presentations was very high and there was a great atmosphere of curiosity and enthusiasm about science. Voting for the best presentation produced a clear winner. Well done to Seb, Tanay and Nathan who received 49 votes for their presentation on the Hydrogen Bomb. They will be presented with a trophy in an upcoming assembly.
