It has been two years since we held this much-loved sporting event in the school calendar, and we couldn’t have picked a more idyllic day for it. The early spring sun shone down, and blue skies provided the perfect backdrop for an afternoon run. It was not only the boys that took part, but members of staff joined in too, and those that didn’t lined the route cheering runners along the way.

The hotly contended House Relays kicked the afternoon off where teams from each House, and across all year groups, ran one lap of the school estate (approximately two kilometres) in relay. It was a closely fought battle, but in the end, it was St Peter’s who were victorious as the overall winners.

Year group winners were:

Fourth Form – Crescent
Remove Form – St Cuthbert’s
Fifth Form – St Peter’s
Lower Sixth – St Peter’s
Upper Sixth – Ashburnham

The House Relays were immediately followed by the annual charity run, in which the Houses aim to run 100 laps or more of the estate between them. This usually equates to approximately two laps per boy. However, with the help of teachers and lots of cheering from the side-lines, this number was exceeded this year, with well over 100 laps completed.

Boys also took advantage of the warm weather and sold ice creams outside the Langham Pavillion, raising over £200 for the Bedford Device Bank – a charity set up and run by the boys.
