Warmer temperatures this week meant that boys could finally enjoy a full set of fixtures, and what superb fixtures they were!

Our U13s, U12s and U11s properly kicked the season off in style with a superb block fixture against Winchester House School. Some impressive playing saw the teams undefeated in all but three of their 13 matches. Special mention must go to Freddie Gibbs and Ned Neale for both playing an integral part in the U13A squad, despite being a year young. Mention must also go to the U13Bs, who played some really expansive hockey and fought extremely hard to hold on to their victory.

Mr Mason, Master in Charge of Hockey, commented, “There is no such thing as an easy victory, especially against Winchester House, and all the boys worked exceptionally hard to achieve these great results. Well done all. Whilst it was a long time coming, it was amazing to see so many boys playing and enjoying their hockey on Wednesday – it was definitely worth the wait. A day later, and there is still a real buzz in classrooms, and the boys are already looking forward to their fixtures next week.”

Meanwhile, our U10s headed just up the road for Stamford’s Junior School Festival and had a good afternoon playing matches against Bedford Modern, Oakham, Stoneygate, Witham Hall, Wisbech and Stamford. It was an excellent opportunity to test their skills against various teams, and one which the boys took on with real spirit.  Meanwhile, back in school, our younger players made the most of the warmer weather to level up their skills.
