The Prep School Astro was a hive of activity and excitement at lunchtime on Friday 1 July as boys busily took part in ‘The Big Harpur Charity Bowl-Off’.

The boys, relishing the opportunity to play even more cricket in the sunshine, were challenged to bowl as many overs and take as many wickets as possible to raise funds for Men in Sheds Bedford, Harpur House’s chosen charity this year.

There were also individual prizes for the most accurate bowlers in each year group. We are still adding up the overs bowled but cannot wait to work out how far the boys bowled from Bedford School. Was it as far as Lords? Trent Bridge? Edgbaston? Old Trafford? The Rose Bowl?

Congratulations to all the boys who took part, especially those in Harpur.

About Men in Sheds

This local charity aims to keep men active and healthy by getting them out of the house, meeting people, making friends, doing interesting things and having fun working with others in pursuing their hobbies and practical interests.

As GP Ann Robinson said, ”If there is one thing that is the enemy of wellbeing, it is loneliness. Get out there and connect with people.” Men in Sheds Bedford aims to do just that.
