Ethan Vernon performed superbly at the 2017 British Cycling National Youth and Junior Track Championships 2017 held in Newport between 31st July and 4th August to not only complete a hat-trick of gold medals and win a bronze. he also set two new national records – a feat never before achieved in one event in the history of British Cycling.

Ethan started the championships in style on the opening Monday, when he set his first national record in a sensational performance to win gold in the junior 3000m individual pursuit title. Ethan stopped the clock in 3:14.657, over seven seconds faster than his closest competitor and just 1.67 seconds off the world record!

On Thursday Ethan built on his success when he won the junior men’s kilo and points race. He set a time of 1.02.320 to take the kilo title, as a win in the final sprint of the points race to win two titles. Ethan also picked up bronze in the scratch race.

We are delighted to see Ethan going from strength to strength on the track after his first year of the two-year British Junior Academy and wish him every success as he bids for selection to the Senior Academy.
