We are pleased to share the boys’ latest Global Citizens Group newsletter.

This latest issue covers Disability Month, Braille Day, World Religions, Chinese New Year and the Holocaust, the last of which was the topic discussed by boys in forms (Y5-Y8) with their Global Citizens Group representatives today (27 January) on Holocaust Memorial Day. We are proud to say that the boy representatives did a brilliant job sharing their knowledge of the Holocaust, from Kristallnacht to the ‘final solution’ committed against the Jewish population during WW2 by the Nazis and opening discussions on why it is important to reflect on and stand against prejudice and hatred today.

The Global Citizens Group meets monthly for an expert talk and subsequent discussion on a different topic, and next month will explore LGBT history. The boy representatives will then, once again, take their understanding and learning back to their tutor groups to start further conversations, generate ideas, and, hopefully, facilitate greater understanding.

Headmaster Ian Silk commented, “It is wonderful that the group representatives were able to share their knowledge and thoughts on Holocaust Memorial Day today to influence their peers positively, and we are delighted to say that the boys’ responses in their tutor groups have been insightful and thoughtful.”

Special mentions and thanks go to our newsletter contributors for this issue: Abid Wasif (Y8), who wrote about Disability month, Nikhil Das Gupta (Y6) for Braille Day, Daniel Joaille- Burge (Y7, Editor) for World Religions and Holocaust Memorial Day and Lucien Carron (Y8) for his piece on the Lunar New Year, and to Jeremy Dunn (Y5) for leading the presentation on Holocaust Memorial Day and World Religions Day.
