This weekend our football teams kicked off the season with three fixtures against Uppingham at home.

The First XI completely dominated for the majority of the game and were cruising at 2-0 with a brace from Probyn. However a missed penalty gave Uppingham a chance to get back into the game. Midway through the second half, they grabbed a goal back which set up a tense final quarter of the game. With less than two minutes of the game to go, the home defence switched off (having played supremely well for the first 78 minutes) and conceded two late goals to lose a game that had been in their control.

The Second XI also suffered a defeat – losing 3-0, but a true reflection of the scoreline should have been 6-3 to the eagles as the clearer chances were created but then spurned.

The U16A continued their winning start to the season with a comfortable 4-0 victory that, given the heavy conditions, featured four goals of incredible skill and technique from Yeraliyev, Ukiri, El Ghul and Barden.
