Shrove Tuesday is always a day of great excitement for both tasty pancakes and the hotly contested, fun and light-hearted annual House pancake race. This year was no exception – indeed, you could hear the loud cheers across the entire school estate as the boys supported their Houses. Each House entered a six-person team consisting of a boy from each year.

Mr Loader was on hand to run and referee proceedings, ably supported by his pancake flip spotters on the course. In the House Race, Harpur’s six-person team took the title for 2023.

It was then on to the Y8 boys versus staff race, which was just as competitive, with a great deal of pride on the line. This year, the Y8s pipped staff to the post after a pancake drop saw the staff team fall behind.

The camaraderie and good-natured competition between the boys and their teachers was, dare we say it, ‘flippin’ fantastic’.
