All our Prep boys enjoyed a fun and, in some cases, delicious workshop or assembly on Tuesday 24 January.

Marnie, a nutritionist with our new caterers Chartwells, talked to the boys about healthy eating, why they should eat healthily, the five key food groups, healthy snacking, and the other key elements of a healthy lifestyle – such as sleep, exercise and friendships.

The talk even included a few dance moves for our younger boys as they thought about how different foods help different parts of their bodies. The boys were highly engaged and answered lots of questions, learning valuable information and facts along the way, such as how big a single portion of their five-a-day fruit and vegetables should be. The answer: the size of their palm. As ever, with boys’ curious minds, there were plenty of questions, such as how long does it take to digest a strawberry?

Marnie also challenged boys in Y3 and Y4 to make rainbow wraps using a colourful array of fruit and vegetables to get one of their five-day-portions. A few boys, rather ambitiously, may have fitted two portions in! Meanwhile, boys in Y7 and Y8 enjoyed healthy snacking, which they learned is a great way to take in more nutrients.
