Boys in 6O were celebrating at the end of the half term after winning the DoodleEnglish Back-to-School competition.

All our Y5 and Y6 classes joined 2,289 classes from schools around the country to compete in the fun DoodleEnglish and DoodleMaths Back-to-School competitions. Designed to get the boys back into the swing of daily maths and English practice, the competitions encouraged practising ‘little and often’ by completing 10 minutes of daily Doodling from 22 September to 5 October. At the end of the 14 days, the class with the highest percentage of pupils achieving 10 minutes each day, placing them in the ‘green zone’, would be crowned the winners.

Excitingly, not only did 6O take the national title in DoodleEnglish, but 5B were also named runners-up. The boys also enjoyed success in the DoodleMaths competition, with 6Ma-S, 5Ma-I and 5Ma-D also named runners-up. And their prize . . . a whole stack of fun games, including Word Cubes, Uno, Go Genius and Dobble, which they thoroughly enjoyed playing in their final lessons before the half-term break.

Head of Maths, Mrs Lee, commented, “I am extremely proud of all the boys who participated in the competitions last half-term. They all did really well, and it was wonderful to see so many boys staying in the green zone. As I tell the boys, regular practice really makes a difference in progression and the retention of knowledge. Well done, everyone!”
